Windows Thunderbird Account Setup

  1. Open Thunderbird
  2. Click Tools
  3. Click Account Settings
  4. Click Add Account
  5. Ensure Email account is selected
  6. Click Next
  7. Your Name: Enter your name you want associated with your e-mail address
    Email Address: Enter your full e-mail address
  8. Click Next
  9. Ensure POP type of incoming mail server is selected
    Incoming Server: Enter the POP server info provided by PSNI (usually mail.domainname.com)
  10. Click Next
  11. Incoming User Name: Enter your full e-mail address
  12. Click Next
  13. Account Name: Enter your full e-mail address
  14. Click Next
  15. Click Finish
  16. Click Outgoing Server (SMTP)
  17. Server Name: Enter the SMTP server info provided by PSNI (usually smtp.domainname.com)
    Port: Ensure 25 is displayed
    Ensure Use name and password box is checked
    User Name: Enter your full e-mail address
    Critical Note: If this is not checked you will not be able to send e-mail through PSNI mail system
    Ensure Use secure connection (SSL): Never is selected
  18. Click OK
